The very many doglegs provide the opportunity to take risks and shorten this course still further. The main hazards are the bunkers (on either side of the green), a few rare water hazards (on the 16th and 18th holes) and the pine, palm and almond trees.
Son Vida often looks very tight from the tee, and this can cause surprise, but the fairways open out to reach a fair width at driving length. F.W. Harwtree has made good use of average hilly terrain but was obviously not attempting any real architectural exploit. In particular, the greens are round, fancy-tree, flat not very large and slightly elevated.
Despite the residential side, Son Vida Golf Course still has a very natural appearance to it, upkeep is good and the balanced layout makes this a course we would recommend to players of all abilities. The course was closed in 2001 to carry out watering and drinking work and also to reshape the greens and fairways of the last five holes under the supervision of course architect Kurt Rossknecht. He lengthened the course by more than 80 Metres
