DESCRIPTION
This is a commercial golf course reserved exclusively for guests staying at the two hotels in the Son Vida Park, a lovely holiday village with two golf courses lying just 10 minutes away from Palma.
Golf at Son Muntaner has been designed to fit in perfectly with its Mediterranean environment and is lined with almonds trees, carobs, pine and olive trees.
This is one of those courses where you easily remember the holes after just a single round and where you will need every club in your bag. It is not excessively long but certain holes suddenly appear to be very challenging, like the 5th, an uphill Par 3 stretching some 205 metres
COURSE REVIEW
Hole 1 Par 4
Not a bad starting hole, dogleg right. The main danger is the out of bounds down the right landside that borders the driving range. Luckily the range balls are yellow should you be unfortunate enough to send you new Pro V over in that direction. Second is into a green with water at the front and a bunker.
Hole 2 Par 5
Straight and narrow par 4 with water running down the right landside. Approach is to a green well protected by bunkers.
Hole 3 Par 4
Slight dogleg right with water also down the right and a fairway bunker to the left. A good drive though should set you up for a relatively easy second shot.
Hole 4 Par 4 370 meters
Fairway bunkers are in play to catch an average drive, though bigger hitters will be able to clear these.
A stream runs across the fairway, but at a 100 meters out it should not cause a problem.
Hole 5 Par 3
Slight walk to this par 3, Tee shot is a difficult up hill shot, Deep bunkers a front and rear and trees to the left add to the complication.
Hole 6 Par 4
Elevated tee down to a wide fairway protected by bunkers. Second is a medium iron into the green.
Hole 7 Par 3
Straight forward par 3 from a high tee position down to the green.
Hole 8 Par 5
Dogleg right, with trouble down the left for the tee. The approach is up hill to an elevated green protected by bunkers
Hole 9 Par 4
Straight forward par 4, A good drive will set you up far a short to medium iron into the green. Bunker to the left of the green but not to deep.
Hole 10 Par 4
Straight forward tee shot to a wide fairway, fairway bunkers to the left may cause a problem but a good drive should clear. The main concern is to far a drive and the fairway is stepped with a small wall.
Second is a short or medium iron into the green, bunkers front and left.
Hole 11 Par 3 174 meters
Quiet a long par 3 downhill but to a large green with bunkers right and left.
Hole 12 Par 4 355 meters
Straight with fairway bunkers to the left are around 200 mts. Approach is to a narrow green protected by lateral bunkers
Hole 13 Par 3. 124 meters
Fairly short par 3 down hill to a large green, bunker left and large pot bunker right to be avoided!
Hole 14 Par4 294 meters
Nice elevated tee shot down to a wide fairway. The is a small tree in the centre but this should not cause a problem. If you get away a good tee short the second will a short iron on water into the green. Bunker at rear
Hole 15 Par 5 517 meters
Elevated tee to a narrow landing area. The fairway cures around to the right and is narrow all the way to the green.
There is trouble all the way down the left as this is the boarder of the course. Approach is into a well protected green with bunker front right and small pine trees causing and additional hazard.
Hole 16 Par 5 410 meters
Uncomplicated drive with fairway bunkers to the right. Quite a short hole, two decent hit leaves a short iron into the green.
Hole 17 Par 4 300 meters
Short par 4. A good drive from an elevated tee will leave a short iron into the green. Fairway bunkers on the right side will catch anything to wild
Hole 18 Par 3 352 meters
A straight par 4 to finish with fairway bunkers to the left. A good drive is need down the right landside of the fairway to set up a decent approach. Anything too far to the right will leave a shot over or around the trees that cut into the fairway.
